Guided Self-Exploration

Private Self-Inquiry

Regular, confidential one-to-one meetings for understanding your identity, emotional patterns, recurring reactions, and what you genuinely want.

Over time, experiences that once seemed separate can form a more coherent account of who you are, how you came to be, and where deliberate change might begin.

The promise

Understand yourself more deeply.

The inquiry is organized around the particular person you are. It begins with your experience, follows its less obvious connections, and allows its meanings to emerge before any advice is offered.

Points of entry

What May Bring You Here

You do not need a diagnosis, a crisis, or a practical goal to become a worthy subject of your own attention. You may arrive because something has shifted, because something keeps returning, or because knowing yourself matters to you in its own right.

A Life Is Changing Shape

A relationship ends, an occupation or role recedes, or an important decision opens several possible futures. The identity that carried you this far no longer settles the question of who you are now.

You Feel Indistinct to Yourself

You may carry out your life capably while the person carrying it remains curiously faint. Other people’s expectations, long-held loyalties, and familiar roles may be easier to recognize than your own wishes.

Something Keeps Returning

A reaction feels larger than the occasion, a conflict repeats, or a pattern survives several attempts to alter it. You want to understand the private logic that gives it persistence.

Knowledge Is the Purpose

You may simply want to discover more of a subject that is entirely your own. Self-knowledge can be useful, and it can also be a cultivated pleasure: a closer acquaintance with the only life you inhabit.

The practice

What Happens in the Work

We meet regularly by video and begin with what is present: a thought, feeling, memory, question, recent event, peculiar association, or apparently incidental detail. You speak as freely as you can. I listen for possible connections and invite us to stay with what seems to have more to say.

We notice what returns in different forms, where your account becomes unusually certain or unexpectedly vague, and which feelings gather around particular people, wishes, roles, and decisions. No single detail has to carry the whole explanation. Meaning accumulates through relation.

We follow what occurs to you.

Thoughts, feelings, memories, associations, bodily impressions, dreams, and reactions all provide possible routes into the inquiry.

We notice what returns.

A repeated phrase, a familiar conflict, an avoided subject, or a shift in feeling can reveal a continuity that was difficult to see from within a single event.

We connect details into patterns of meaning.

As the same material appears from different directions, isolated pieces begin to belong together. The portrait remains open, yet becomes more detailed and more familiar.

Possible discoveries

What You May Come to Understand

The work does not promise a final account of you. It can, however, make more of your experience available for thought and give you a more accurate place from which to choose.

Who You Have Become

How your present identity differs from the person you once expected to be, and what remains continuous beneath changing circumstances.

What Has Shaped You

The roles, relationships, emotional learning, inherited dispositions, wishes, and accommodations that have contributed to your particular composition.

Why Patterns Persist

What a recurring response protects, expresses, prevents, or preserves, and why insight alone may not yet have loosened its hold.

What You Genuinely Want

Which wishes feel unmistakably your own, which were gradually borrowed, and where a deliberate change could begin without abandoning the self who must live it.

A different kind of guidance

What Makes This Different

The service sits beside familiar forms of help without pretending to be one of them. Its distinction lies in the order of work: first understand the particular person, then consider what follows.

Individual Rather Than Formulaic

We do not begin with a universal sequence, a prescribed ideal, or a ready-made account of what a good life should contain. The method adjusts to the material and meanings of one person.

Understanding Before Advice

Advice can be sensible and still fail because it does not know enough about the person expected to follow it. We first ask what your present way of living means and accomplishes.

No Personality Typing

A type can name a resemblance while concealing the singular arrangement beneath it. Contradictions, exceptions, associations, and changes of mind remain evidence rather than errors in classification.

Depth Without Assuming Pathology

Self-knowledge need not begin in illness. Psychoanalytic attention can serve curiosity, orientation, identity, and change outside the clinical framework.

The method

Phenomenological Psychoanalysis

Phenomenology begins with experience as it appears to you, before it is hurried into explanation or classification. We attend closely to the texture of a feeling, the course of a thought, the character of a memory, and the meanings that a situation has from within your life.

Psychoanalysis listens for what accompanies that experience without immediately entering awareness: associations, repetitions, contradictions, absences, shifts in feeling, and the personal histories condensed within an ordinary reaction. Because most mental life operates outside consciousness, self-reflection can describe what happens while missing how its elements are connected.

Used together, these approaches let us investigate your experience from the inside while drawing on a disciplined understanding of unconscious mental processes. The aim is to discover the logic of this particular mind, rather than fit it to a theory in advance.

Your experience is the material.

I bring ways of listening, questioning, and connecting. You bring the life whose meanings cannot be known in advance. The inquiry develops between those two forms of knowledge.

Scope

Fit and Boundaries

Clarity about scope is part of a trustworthy beginning. An introductory conversation helps us consider whether this form of inquiry fits what you are seeking.

This Work May Suit You

You are an adult who wants a sustained, thoughtful inquiry into identity, emotional patterns, recurring reactions, personal meaning, or your own composition. You can meet regularly, tolerate some uncertainty, and are looking for understanding rather than treatment, instruction, or accountability.

You do not need to be distressed. Curiosity is a sufficient reason to begin.

When Another Form of Support Is More Suitable

Private Self-Inquiry is not psychotherapy, coaching, diagnosis, medical treatment, or crisis care. Psychotherapy is more suitable when you need treatment for significant distress, trauma-related symptoms, a mental health condition, or difficulties that are impairing everyday functioning. Coaching is more suitable when your main need is goal-setting, accountability, and forward action.

If you are in immediate danger or may harm yourself or someone else, contact local emergency or crisis services. This website and enquiry form are not monitored for urgent requests.

Malka Ceh, psychoanalyst

About Malka

A Wide View of One Person

I am Malka Ceh, a certified neuropsychoanalyst with a PhD in evolutionary anthropology, an MSc in psychotherapy science, and an MSc in behavioral economics. Before taking psychoanalysis outside the clinical framework, I worked as a psychotherapist.

This background lets me approach the self from several directions at once: as a biological organism carrying an evolutionary history; as a person shaped through development and relationships; as a maker of meanings, many of which remain outside awareness; and as the bearer of a first-person experience available to no one else.

For this work, the breadth matters because no single vocabulary can contain a person. My training helps me recognize possible connections and keep several explanations in view while your own experience decides where the inquiry leads.

Tell me enough to understand what has brought you here and what you hope to examine. Please leave highly sensitive clinical details for a private conversation. This form is for exploratory enquiries and is not monitored for emergencies.

I will use these details only to respond to your enquiry and consider whether the service fits what you are seeking.

What happens next

I will read your enquiry personally. If the service appears appropriate, I will write to arrange an introductory conversation. If your needs call for therapy, coaching, or another form of support, I will say so plainly.
